Tic-Tac-Toe: 2 Player or vs Computer
The classic pencil-and-paper game of noughts and crosses. Get three of your marks in a row before your opponent does.
How to play Tic-Tac-Toe
- Players take turns placing X and O on a 3×3 grid. X always goes first.
- The first player to get three marks in a row — across, down or diagonally — wins.
- If all nine squares fill up with no line, the game is a draw.
- Choose vs Computer (Easy, Medium or Unbeatable) or 2 Players to pass the device back and forth.
Tips
- Taking the center first gives you the most ways to win.
- Against a perfect opponent, the best you can do is a draw.
FAQ
Can you always win at tic-tac-toe?
No. If both players make the best moves, every game ends in a draw. You can only win when your opponent makes a mistake, which is why the Easy and Medium computer players sometimes leave an opening.
What is the best first move in tic-tac-toe?
The center square gives you four possible lines, more than any other square. A corner is almost as strong and sets more traps for an inexperienced opponent.
Is tic-tac-toe the same as noughts and crosses?
Yes. Noughts and crosses is the British name, and some people call it X and O. The rules are identical.
How do you play tic-tac-toe 2 player?
Choose 2 Players in the menu and take turns tapping squares on the same phone, tablet or computer. X goes first, and the first to get three in a row wins.
