How to play Charades Generator
- Word generator: pick categories and a difficulty, then press New word. Turn on Hide words until tapped so you can pass the phone to the actor without anyone else seeing.
- The actor acts the word out without speaking, making sounds or pointing at objects in the room. Everyone else shouts out guesses.
- Classic hand signals help: hold up fingers for the number of words, tap your forearm for the number of syllables, and cup your ear for “sounds like”.
- Team game: choose 2 to 6 teams, a turn length (30 to 120 seconds) and the number of rounds. On each turn one player acts while their own team guesses. Tap Got it for a point or Skip to move on.
- When time runs out you see the words guessed and skipped. After the last round, the team with the most points wins.
Controls

- Use the Holidays category for a festive charades round.
FAQ
How do you play charades?
One player gets a secret word and acts it out without talking. Their team guesses out loud before the timer runs out. A correct guess scores a point, and teams take turns until every round has been played.
What are good charades ideas?
Easy ideas that always work: kangaroo, brushing teeth, flying a kite, pirate, robot, ice cream and building a snowman. For a challenge, try folding a fitted sheet, parallel parking, sleepwalking or a chameleon.
Is this charades generator good for kids?
Yes. Every word is family-friendly, and the Little Kids category plus the Easy level give simple words that young children can act out.
How long should a charades turn be?
One minute is the classic choice. Use 30 or 45 seconds for a fast, high-energy game and 90 seconds or two minutes for younger players or harder words.
Can I play charades on a video call?
Yes. The actor keeps the word private on their phone with Hide words until tapped and acts it out on camera while the others guess.
