Two Truths and a Lie
The classic get-to-know-you game, with the bookkeeping done for you. This two truths and a lie round runner tracks whose turn it is, collects everyone’s guesses, reveals the lie and keeps score, so you can focus on the stories. Works for team icebreakers, family gatherings and parties.
How to play Two Truths and a Lie
- Type in 3 to 12 player names, pick 1 to 3 rounds and an optional thinking timer, then press Start game.
- The storyteller thinks of two true statements about themselves and one believable lie, then says all three out loud as statements 1, 2 and 3. Idea starters are on screen if anyone gets stuck.
- Press Start voting. Each other player taps the number they think is the lie. Pass the phone, or have one person tap while everyone calls out their guess.
- The storyteller taps the real lie. Everyone who spotted it scores 1 point, and the storyteller scores 1 point for every player they fooled.
- Play moves to the next storyteller. After the last turn, the player with the most points wins.
Tips
- The best lies are boring and the best truths are surprising: make your lie the most believable of the three.
- Pick the Work-safe idea starters for a team meeting so nobody is pushed into sharing anything personal.
- With more than eight people, choose 1 round so everyone gets a turn without the game dragging on.
- Ask the storyteller to share the story behind each truth after the reveal: that is where the fun is.
