How to play This or That Questions
- Each card shows two options. Everyone picks this or that as fast as they can, no “both” and no “neither”.
- Tap an option to vote. Pass the phone around or tap once per person, and the card shows the group split as a percentage.
- Press Next question, swipe left or press Space for a new pair. The deck shuffles and only repeats after you have seen every question.
- Choose your decks above the card: Food, Funny, Lifestyle, Animals, Hobbies, Imagine and Get to Know You.
- Add Players for pass-the-phone turns, or set a short timer to keep the game snappy.
Controls
- Space, Enter or →: next question

Tips
- Speed is the point: use the 10-second timer and count down out loud.
- For a get-to-know-you round, ask one follow-up question after every answer.
- In class, have students move to the left or right side of the room to vote.
FAQ
How do you play this or that?
Read two options out loud and everyone chooses one. Answers should be quick and instinctive. Talk about any surprising picks, then move to the next card. There is no winner; it is a game for laughs and getting to know each other.
What are some funny this or that questions?
Try: pirates or ninjas? Unicorns or dragons? Talk like a robot or walk like a robot? Sneeze glitter or hiccup bubbles? Spaghetti hair or broccoli hair? Rubber duck or rubber chicken?
What is the difference between this or that and would you rather?
This or that questions are short pairs you answer in a second, like “summer or winter?”. Would you rather questions describe two whole situations and invite a longer explanation.
Is this or that good for icebreakers?
Yes. The Get to Know You deck has questions such as “introvert or extrovert?” and “plan the trip or join the trip?” that work well for new classes and teams.
