Slapjack Card Game
Slapjack is the quick-fingered card game where every Jack is up for grabs. Play Slapjack online against one to three computer players: flip your cards in turn, watch the pile, and slap the instant a Jack appears to win every card underneath it.
How to play Slapjack Card Game
- The whole deck is dealt out face down as evenly as possible. Nobody looks at their cards.
- Going around the table, each player flips their top card onto the middle pile. You flip first.
- When a Jack lands on top, the first player to slap it takes the whole pile and adds it to the bottom of their stack. That player flips next.
- Slap anything that is not a Jack and you give your top card to the player who flipped it (or to the next player if it was your own card).
- Run out of cards and you are not out yet: you have until the next Jack to slap your way back in. If someone else takes that Jack, or you slap the wrong card with no cards left, you are out.
- The last player still in wins. If you are knocked out, the game is over.
Controls
- Press Space, tap the big SLAP! button or tap the pile to slap.
- Press Enter, tap Flip or tap your deck to flip your next card.
- Choose 1, 2 or 3 computer opponents and their speed (Easy, Medium or Hard) in the toolbar. Auto-flip my cards flips for you so you can focus on slapping.
Tips
- Look for the J in the corner. Queens and kings look similar at a glance, and even the computer slaps them by mistake on Easy.
- Keep your eyes on the pile, not your deck: there are only four Jacks, and each one can swing the game.
- With more opponents there are more slappers, so start with one opponent on Easy and work up to three on Hard.
- When you are down to no cards, stay calm and only slap a real Jack: a wrong slap with an empty hand puts you out.
FAQ
How do you play Slapjack?
Players take turns flipping their top card onto a central pile. Whenever a Jack is turned up, everyone races to slap it, and the fastest player takes the whole pile. Collect all the cards, or be the last player left, to win.
What are the rules of Slapjack?
Deal the whole deck face down. Players flip their top card onto the pile in turn, and the first to slap a Jack takes the pile. A wrong slap costs you your top card. A player with no cards gets one last chance to slap the next Jack; the last player still in wins.
What happens if you slap a card that is not a Jack?
You give your top card to the player who flipped that card. If you slap the wrong card when you have no cards left, you are out of the game.
Can I get back in after running out of cards?
Yes, once. You stay in until the next Jack. Slap it first and you get the pile and are back in; if anyone else wins it, you are out.
How fast are the computer players?
Easy players take more than a second to react, Medium players under a second, and Hard players about half a second, which takes sharp reflexes to beat.
Is Slapjack good for kids?
Yes. It only asks you to spot one card, it is fast and lively, and Easy speed with Auto-flip makes a gentle first game for young players.
