FreeCell Online

Every card is dealt face up, so FreeCell is pure skill: with four spare cells and a little planning, nearly every deal can be solved.

How to play FreeCell Online

• All 52 cards are dealt face up into eight columns. Above them are four free cells (left) and four foundations (right).
• Goal: build each foundation up by suit from Ace to King.
• In the columns, place a card on one that is one rank higher and the opposite colour — a black 9 on a red 10.
• Each free cell holds one card. Any card can go into an empty free cell or an empty column.
• You may move an ordered group of cards at once if there is enough room to do it one card at a time: up to (free cells + 1) × 2^{empty columns} cards (half that when moving into an empty column). The status line shows the current maximum.
• Cards that can no longer be useful are sent to the foundations automatically.

Controls

• Drag a card or group to move it, or tap it to send it to the best spot — a foundation, then a column, then a free cell.
• Double-tap a card to send it to its foundation.
• Use Deal # to play a specific numbered deal, and Restart to try the same deal again.
• Keyboard: U or Ctrl+Z undoes, H shows a hint, N starts a new game.

Tips

• Free cells are precious — try to keep at least one empty, and empty them again quickly.
• An empty column is worth more than a free cell, because it doubles how many cards you can move at once.
• Look for the Aces and 2s first and plan how to dig them out.
• Before you start, scan the whole layout: with everything face up, you can plan several moves ahead.

FAQ

Is this FreeCell free to play online?

Yes. Free FreeCell runs right in your browser on a phone, tablet or computer, with no download or sign-up. Your game in progress is saved on this device, so you can come back to the same deal later.

Can every deal be won?

Almost all of them. Very rarely a deal has no solution, but with careful play you should be able to beat nearly any number you choose.

Are the deal numbers the same as in other FreeCell games?

No. Our deals come from our own shuffle, so deal numbers here only match other players on this site — which makes them perfect for challenging a friend.
