Snap Card Game
Snap is the fast, noisy family card game where sharp eyes win. In this free Snap card game you and the computer take turns flipping cards onto one pile, and the first to hit SNAP when two matching cards land in a row takes the lot.
How to play Snap Card Game
- The deck is shuffled and split between you and the computer. Keep your cards face down.
- Take turns flipping your top card onto the middle pile. You go first.
- When the card just flipped has the same rank as the card under it (two 7s, two queens…), it is a snap! The first player to hit SNAP wins the whole pile and adds it to the bottom of their stack.
- Nobody can flip while a pair is showing: someone has to snap it first.
- Snapping when there is no pair is a false snap: you hand 2 of your cards to the other player.
- If it is your turn and you have no cards left to flip, you lose. Win by collecting every card, or in First to 5 snaps mode by winning 5 snaps first.
Controls
- Press Space, tap the big SNAP! button or tap the pile to snap.
- Press Enter, tap Flip or tap your deck to flip your next card.
- Pick the computer's reaction speed (Easy, Medium or Hard) in the toolbar. Auto-flip my cards flips for you so you can just watch and snap.
Tips
- Watch the rank in the corner of each card: suits never matter in Snap.
- Keep a finger on the SNAP button or Space bar so you are ready the moment a pair lands.
- False snaps hurt, so do not slap the button on every card. On Easy the computer sometimes false snaps too, which gives you free cards.
- Younger players can start on Easy with Auto-flip turned on and focus only on spotting pairs.
FAQ
How do you play the Snap card game?
Players take turns turning cards over onto a pile. When two cards of the same rank appear one after the other, the first player to call snap wins all the cards in the pile. Collect every card to win.
What happens if I snap by mistake?
A snap with no matching pair is a false snap and costs you 2 cards, which go to the computer. When the computer false snaps, you get the cards.
How fast is the computer?
On Easy it takes over a second to react, on Medium under a second, and on Hard about half a second, which takes quick reflexes to beat.
Do the suits have to match?
No. Only the rank counts, so a 9 of hearts and a 9 of clubs is a snap.
Is Snap good for kids?
Yes. It teaches matching and quick reactions, there is nothing to read, and Easy mode with Auto-flip keeps it relaxed for young players.
