Addition Games for Kids
Bright, simple addition games that grow with your child: count pictures in kindergarten, learn facts to 20 in first grade, then add two- and three-digit numbers. Switch to subtraction or a mix of both any time for addition and subtraction games in one place.
How to play Addition Games for Kids
- Pick a grade. Kindergarten adds within 10 with pictures to count, Grade 1 practices facts within 20, Grade 2 adds two-digit numbers within 100 and Grade 3 works with three-digit numbers within 1000.
- Choose Addition, Subtraction or Both.
- Choose how to answer: Pick the answer from four big buttons, Type the answer on a number pad, or solve a Missing number question like 6 + ? = 10.
- Each question is read out loud. A right answer earns a star and moves on by itself. After a miss, the correct fact is shown so you can learn it, then press Next.
- Finish the round to earn up to three stars: 90% right earns three. Your best stars for each setup are saved, and a round you leave halfway resumes when you come back.
Controls
- Tap or click an answer button, or press 1–4 on a keyboard.
- In Type the answer mode use the on-screen number pad or your keyboard digits; Enter checks, Backspace deletes.
- Press 🔊 to hear the question again. Use Read aloud in the toolbar to mute or unmute the voice.
- After a miss, press Next (or Enter) when you are ready to go on.
Tips
- Count on from the bigger number: for 3 + 8, start at 8 and count 9, 10, 11.
- Learn the “make 10” pairs first (1 + 9, 2 + 8, 3 + 7, 4 + 6, 5 + 5). They make bigger sums easy: 8 + 5 is 8 + 2 + 3 = 13.
- For two-digit sums, add the tens and then the ones: 34 + 25 is 50 + 9 = 59.
- Missing number questions build algebra thinking: 6 + ? = 10 asks “what goes with 6 to make 10?”
