City Defense: Missile Defense Game
A classic-style missile defense game for touch, mouse or keyboard. Rockets streak down toward your six cities; launch interceptors from three bases and catch the rockets in the blast clouds before they land.
How to play City Defense
- Rockets fall from the top of the screen toward your cities and your three launch bases.
- Tap or click anywhere in the sky to launch an interceptor from the nearest base that still has shots. It flies to that spot and bursts into a blast cloud.
- Any rocket that touches a blast cloud is destroyed, and its own small blast can catch rockets next to it. Aim ahead of a rocket so it flies into the cloud.
- Each base has 10 interceptors per wave. A base hit by a rocket is out until the next wave, and a city that is hit is lost.
- From wave 3 some rockets split into extra rockets partway down, so stop them high when you can.
- At the end of a wave you get a bonus for every city still standing and every unused interceptor. Points multiply as the waves go on, and every 10,000 points earns a bonus city that is rebuilt at the start of a wave. The game ends when every city is gone.
Controls
- Touch or mouse: tap or click where you want the blast. The nearest base with shots fires.
- Keyboard: arrow keys move the crosshair. Space fires from the nearest base; Z, X and C (or A, S, D) fire from the left, middle and right bases.
- P or Esc pauses.
Tips
- Lead your shots: aim at the spot a rocket will reach, not where it is now.
- One well-placed blast can stop several rockets that are close together. Wait a moment for them to bunch up.
- Save the middle base: it is the closest to every city.
- Unused interceptors are worth points at the end of a wave, so do not waste them on rockets that are aimed at ruins.
FAQ
How do you play a missile defense game?
Rockets fall toward your cities. Tap the sky to launch an interceptor that explodes into a blast cloud; rockets that hit the cloud are destroyed. Protect your cities as long as you can.
How is the score calculated?
Each rocket you stop is worth 25 points, multiplied by the wave multiplier (up to 6x). At the end of each wave every surviving city adds 100 and every unused interceptor adds 5, also multiplied.
How do I get a city back?
Every 10,000 points earns a bonus city. It is rebuilt on an empty spot at the start of the next wave.
Can I play with a keyboard?
Yes. Move the crosshair with the arrow keys and fire with Space, or pick a base with Z, X and C.
Does the game save?
Yes. Your progress is saved at the start of each wave, and your best score for each level is kept in this browser.
