Five-Letter Word Practice
Can't wait until tomorrow? Practice mode gives you a brand-new random five-letter word every round, as many times as you like.
How to play Five-Letter Word Practice
- Find the hidden five-letter word in six guesses. Type a real word and press Enter.
- After each guess every tile changes color and shape: a circle means the letter is in the right spot, a leaf-shaped tile means it is in the word but somewhere else, and a dimmed square means the letter is not in the word.
- Repeated letters are counted exactly: if the answer has one E and you guess two, only one E lights up.
- The on-screen keyboard keeps track of what you have learned, so you can see which letters are still worth trying.
- Press New word at any time to start over with a different random answer. Practice games have their own stats, separate from the daily puzzle.
Controls
- Type on your keyboard, or tap the on-screen keys.
- Enter submits a guess, Backspace deletes a letter.
Tips
- Use practice rounds to test different opening words and see which one gives you the most clues on average.
- In hard mode, think about which letters you are forced to reuse before typing — it is easy to paint yourself into a corner.
FAQ
Does practice affect my daily streak?
No. Practice rounds keep their own win streak and guess distribution, so you can experiment freely.
Can I get the same word twice?
Words are picked at random from our curated list of several hundred answers, so repeats are possible but rare.
