How to play Word Scramble Generator
- Type or paste your words in the box, one per line (commas work too). Short phrases are fine: each word in a phrase is scrambled on its own.
- Or choose Fill with a theme to start from one of our ready-made word lists, like animals, space or kitchen words.
- Pick your options: UPPERCASE letters, First-letter hints for younger solvers, and an Answer key on a separate page.
- Press Scramble! to mix the letters again until you like the result, then Print the worksheet or Copy text to paste it anywhere.
- Scrambles never spell another real word, so every puzzle has a clear answer.
Controls
- Edit the word list and title directly; the preview updates as you type.
- Print opens a clean printable page. If nothing happens, allow pop-ups for this site.
Tips
- For spelling practice, use the week's word list and turn on first-letter hints for beginners.
- Keep it to 10–20 words per sheet so it fits on one printed page.
- Want a game instead? The Word Scramble game version times you against the clock with themed words.

FAQ
How do I make a word scramble?
Type your words into the box, one per line, choose your options and press Scramble. The generator mixes the letters of each word and lays them out as a numbered worksheet with answer lines. Print it, or copy the text into your own document.
Is this word scramble generator free?
Yes. It is completely free, needs no account, and your word list is saved only in your own browser.
Can I include an answer key?
Yes. Tick Answer key and the printed worksheet gets a second page with every answer in order. On screen, the key is folded away so students do not see it by accident.
Can I scramble phrases or names?
Yes. Each word in a phrase is scrambled separately, and spaces and hyphens stay where they are, so a phrase keeps its shape.
