Easy word scramble worksheets for early readers, made for the parents and teachers who print them. The default Easy setting uses short, familiar words (3 to 5 letters), first-letter hints and large print, so children can work out each word and write it on the line. The answer key is for the grown-up.

How to play Word Scramble for Kids

Choose a theme and a difficulty, then press New puzzles to build fresh scrambles.
Each sheet shows 10 to 14 numbered scrambled words with a line to write the answer, and a name and date line at the top.
Pick a Help option for younger solvers: first-letter hints, or a word bank to choose answers from.
Press Print puzzles for the worksheets, or Print both to add an answer key page after them.
Want other words? Press New puzzles as many times as you like, or use the word scramble generator to type your own spelling list.

Controls

Theme picks the topic, or choose Mixed themes for a different topic on every sheet.
Difficulty sets the word length: Easy 3 to 5 letters, Medium 5 to 7, Hard 7 to 10.
Puzzles per set builds up to six different worksheets at once, each on its own page.
Help adds a first-letter hint after each scramble, or a word bank of all the answers at the top of the sheet.
Print puzzles, Print answer key or Print both open your browser’s print dialog; pick “Save as PDF” as the destination to download a PDF.

Tips

Read the first-letter hint aloud, then sound out the scramble together.
Switch to the word bank for children who are still learning to spell.
