Language Quiz
Similes, palindromes, word origins and how to say "thank you" around the world: a quiz for word lovers.
How to play Language Quiz
- Every round draws 10 random questions from our language & words question bank. You will not see the same question again until you have worked through the whole category.
- Tap or click an answer, or press 1–4 or A–D on a keyboard. The right answer turns green, a wrong pick turns red, and a short explanation appears.
- Press Next (or Enter) to move on. Every correct answer scores 100 points, and answering several in a row adds a growing streak bonus (up to +125).
- Turn on the optional 20-second timer for a speed bonus. If time runs out, the question counts as missed.
- At the end you get your score and a review of every question you missed, with the correct answers.
Controls
- 1–4 or A–D: choose an answer
- Enter or Space: next question
Tips
- Greek and Latin roots unlock many meanings: tri- means three, bio- means life.
- Say tricky words out loud to spot homophones.
FAQ
Do I need to speak other languages?
No. A few questions ask about common greetings, but most are about English words and grammar.
Will I get the same questions again?
Not for a while. The game remembers which questions you have seen on this device and only repeats them after you have answered every question in the category.
