How to play South America Map Quiz
- Pick a mode in the toolbar. In Click the country you see a name and tap that country on the map of South America. In Name it a country lights up and you choose its name from four options, or type it yourself.
- Play a quick round of 10 or 20 countries, or all 13. The order is shuffled every time.
- In click mode you get three tries per country. A first-try answer scores a full point, a second try half a point and a third try a quarter. After three misses the right country flashes and the quiz moves on.
- Answered countries stay coloured on the map: green for the first try, yellow for the second, orange for the third and red when you missed it.
- At the end you get a percentage score and your time. Use Retry missed to practise only the countries you got wrong, or switch to Learn / explore to tap around the map and read every name.

- Ecuador sits on the equator, which gives the country its name. The Galápagos Islands far out in the Pacific belong to it too.
- Chile is the long, thin strip along the Pacific coast; Argentina lies east of the Andes.
FAQ
How many countries are in South America?
Twelve independent countries. French Guiana is an overseas region of France, so it is part of the European Union, but it is included in the quiz because it sits on the continent.
Which South American countries border Brazil?
Every South American country except Chile and Ecuador borders Brazil.
How is the score worked out?
Each country is worth one point on the first try, half a point on the second and a quarter on the third. Your score is the share of the maximum, so 100% means every country on the first try.
Can I zoom in on small countries?
Yes. Pinch on a phone or tablet, use the mouse wheel on a computer, or press the + button. Very small countries and island nations also get a round tap target so you can hit them without zooming.
Does the quiz save my progress?
Yes. Your current round is saved on this device, so you can close the page and carry on later. Your best score for each mode and round length is saved too.
