Spacebar Counter
A simple spacebar counter that tallies every press. Leave it on No limit to just count, or pick a timer to see how many presses per second you can manage.
How to play Spacebar Counter
- Choose No limit to count freely, or a timed test of 1, 5, 10, 30 or 60 seconds.
- Press the spacebar. The counter (and the timer, if you chose one) starts on your first press.
- Holding the key down doesn’t count extra — each press has to be a new one.
- In a timed test your score is presses per second (PPS). Your best for each length is saved on this device.
- No keyboard? Tap the big zone on a phone or tablet and it counts just like a spacebar press.
Controls
- Space — count a press
- Tap the zone — count a press on touch screens
- The Restart button resets the count
Tips
- Tap with your thumb near the middle of the bar, where most keyboards are lightest.
- Alternate thumbs for the longer timed tests to keep your speed up.
FAQ
Why use a spacebar counter?
It’s a quick way to test a keyboard, warm up your fingers or settle a speed challenge with friends.
Does holding the spacebar count?
No. Automatic key repeat is ignored, so only real separate presses are counted.
How many spacebar presses per second is good?
Around 6 to 8 presses per second is a typical score for a 10 second test. Over 10 is very fast.
Will the page scroll when I press Space?
No. While you are on this page the spacebar only feeds the counter.
