Code Breaker
A logic puzzle of pure deduction. The computer hides a row of colored pegs; every guess earns clues that tell you how close you are. Crack the code before your ten guesses run out.
How to play Code Breaker
- A hidden code of colored pegs is chosen at random — 4 pegs from 6 colors in the classic setup.
- Fill a row by tapping colors, then press Check. Each guess gets a set of small clue pegs:
- A solid dot means one of your pegs is the right color in the right spot. A hollow ring means one peg is a correct color but in the wrong spot. Clue pegs are not in any particular order.
- Repeated colors are counted fairly: a color you guess twice only earns two clues if the code also contains it twice.
- Solve the code within ten guesses to win. The Daily code is the same for everyone each day and builds a streak; practice modes let you play as often as you like, with or without repeated colors and with a harder 5-peg, 8-color setting.
Controls
- Tap a color to drop it into the highlighted slot; tap a slot to select it, tap it again to clear it.
- Keyboard: 1–8 pick colors, ←/→ move between slots, Backspace deletes, Enter checks the guess.
- Every color also carries its own symbol. Turn on color-blind mode in Settings to show larger symbols and numbers on each peg.
Tips
- Open with two pairs, such as 1-1-2-2. The clues tell you quickly which colors are in play.
- Before each guess, make sure it fits every clue you already have — a guess that can’t be the answer wastes a turn.
- If a guess earns no clues at all, every color in it is ruled out completely.
FAQ
Is the daily code the same for everyone?
Yes. Everyone gets the same daily code on the same calendar day (classic rules: 4 pegs, 6 colors, repeats allowed). Your share text shows only the clue pattern, so it never spoils the answer.
Can the code contain the same color twice?
In the classic and hard modes, yes. Pick a “no repeats” practice mode if you prefer every peg to be a different color.
What counts toward my streak?
Solving the daily code on consecutive days. Missing a day or running out of guesses resets the current streak, but your best streak is kept.
