Color Sort: Water Sort Puzzle
A relaxing water sort puzzle with a satisfying pour, played just like a ball sort puzzle. Each tube holds a jumble of colored layers; move them around, one stack at a time, until every tube is a single solid color.
How to play Color Sort
- Tap a tube to pick it up, then tap another tube to pour into it.
- You can only pour onto a layer of the same color, or into an empty tube. All matching layers on top pour together, as many as fit.
- Each tube holds four layers. A level is complete when every tube is either full of one color or empty.
- Stuck? Use Undo as often as you like, Restart the level, or add one extra empty tube with + Tube (once per level).
- Levels get harder as you go: more colors, more tubes and longer solutions. Every level is checked by a solver before you see it, so each one can be cleared.
Controls
- Tap / click a tube to select it, then the tube to pour into
- Keys 1–9, 0 pick tubes · Z undo · R restart · H hint · Esc deselect
Tips
- Keep an empty tube free for as long as you can — it is your most valuable resource.
- Before pouring, look at what is underneath. Uncovering a color that has a matching top somewhere else sets up your next move.
- Fill a tube with one color early; finished tubes are out of the way for the rest of the level.
- Turn on Symbols if some colors look alike — every color also has its own shape.
FAQ
Is this a water sort or a ball sort puzzle?
Both. The rules match the popular water sort puzzle and ball sort puzzle: only the same color can stack, and each tube holds four. Here the layers look like liquid, but they move exactly like balls.
Is every level solvable?
Yes. Levels are generated by the game and each one is solved by a built-in search before it is shown, without using the extra tube.
Is my progress saved?
Your current level, the state of the tubes and every level you have unlocked are saved in this browser. Pick any unlocked level from the Level menu.
Are there color-blind options?
Yes. Switch on Symbols in the toolbar, or turn on color-blind mode in the site settings, and every color gets a distinct shape.
