Expert Sudoku Printable
The hardest sheets we make. Expert grids start with very few clues, defeat the usual advanced patterns and ask for long chains of logic. Each is checked to have exactly one solution. Print one or two per page, take a pencil and an afternoon, and use the answer page only at the end.
How to play Expert Sudoku Printable
- The page opens on Expert. Choose Hard from the Difficulty menu for a gentler challenge.
- Choose 1, 2 or 4 puzzles per page. One per page gives the most room for notes.
- Leave the answer key on to print solutions on a second page.
- Press Print (or Save as PDF in the print dialog). Press New sheet for different puzzles.
- Fill the 9×9 grid so that every row, every column and every bold-outlined 3×3 box contains each digit from 1 to 9 exactly once.
- Some digits are given at the start and cannot be changed. Every puzzle has exactly one solution, and you never need to guess.
Tips
- Fill in every candidate before looking for patterns; expert grids hide their key steps until the notes are complete.
- Look for swordfish patterns and for chains of two-candidate squares that lead to a contradiction.
- Take breaks. A solved grid is the same after lunch.

FAQ
How do you know an expert grid has one solution?
After creating each grid our solver counts its solutions and keeps it only if there is exactly one.
Why is the first move so hard to find?
Expert grids are close to minimal, so every remaining clue matters and the first step is often not a simple single.
Are there answers?
Yes. Leave the answer key on and the solutions print on a separate page, numbered to match.
