Memory Match Card Game
A clean, quick memory card game and test of short-term memory, with grid sizes that stay challenging for adults. Every card has exactly one twin hidden somewhere on the board — remember where you saw each face and clear the grid in as few moves as you can. Also known as Concentration or Pairs.
How to play Memory Match Card Game
- All cards start face down. Turn over any two cards — that counts as one move.
- If the two faces match, they stay face up. If not, they flip back after a moment, so try to remember what you saw.
- Keep going until every pair is found. Solo, the goal is the fewest moves (the timer is there for bragging rights).
- In 2 players mode, players take turns. Finding a pair scores a point and earns another go; a miss passes the turn. Most pairs at the end wins.
- Pick a grid from 4×3 (6 pairs) up to 6×6 (18 pairs), and a card style: shapes, card suits, letters, numbers or symbols.
Controls
- Tap or click a card to turn it over. Tap anywhere to flip a missed pair back early.
- Keyboard: arrow keys move between cards; Enter or Space turns one over.
Tips
- Work methodically — sweep the board row by row early on instead of flipping at random, so the positions are easier to recall.
- When your first card is one you haven’t seen before, use the second flip to uncover a new card rather than guessing.
- Say the faces to yourself (“star, top left”). Linking a word to a position makes it stick.
FAQ
What is a good score?
A perfect memory would need one move per pair plus a little exploring. On a 4×4 grid, finishing in about 12–16 moves is excellent; 20 is solid.
Does the timer affect my best score?
Your best for each grid size is ranked by moves first; time only breaks ties.
Is my game saved?
Yes. If you leave the page mid-game, the board, matched pairs, moves and time are restored when you come back on the same device.
